Leigh Zeitz

Leigh Zeitz is an Associate Professor for Instructional Technology at the University of Northern Iowa. He involves pre- and in-service teachers in emerging technologies, data-driven decision-making, digital portfolios and technology coordination. Dr. Zeitz has practical experience in NK-12 schools having had the opportunity to teach at all of the grade levels from first through twelfth grade in public, private and prison schools.  He was the instructional technology coordinator for Price Laboratory School for six years.

Dr. Zeitz has developed an international viewpoint on Teacher Education since working with future teachers in Malaysia as a visiting professor for Purdue University. Dr. Zeitz has been an NCATE examiner for ISTE since 2004. Over the past year, Dr. Zeitz has become an active participant in the Flat Classroom Project. He and his students have participated as expert advisors and judges in the Flat Classroom Project, eRacism, and the NetGenEd Project.
His students have noted that this global experience has drastically changed their perception of education.

Leigh has been an active member of the educational technology community since 1980. He served on the Board of Directors for Iowa Technology and
Education Connection (ITEC) for three years. He was elected to ITEC vice president in 1997. Leigh is a member of the Thornburg Center for
Professional Development.  Dr. Zeitz has written 7 books, over 60 articles and given over 100 presentations on three continents about technology and
education.
