Flat Classroom™ Conference, Doha Qatar, January 2009

Picture
The inaugural Flat Classroom™ Conference saw a coming together of educators, leaders and students globally. Archived material of the conference shares the amazing cultural interchange, the 21st Century approaches to learning, and the interaction with supporting authors such as Thomas Friedman and Don Tapscott. The Leadership Workshop was led by International Society for Technology in Education CEO, Don Knezek, along with Senior Strategic Initiatives Officer, Lynn Nolan.
The Student Summit, led by Vicki Davis and supported by Julie Lindsay and Hollywood film education expert, Frank Guttler, encouraged participants to identify and solve global issues. In teams, students pitched ideas for solutions to an international audience. The teams voted most likely to succeed spent the last summit day creating a multimedia artifact to share with the world and convince them of their aims. One of these ideas, Eracism (erasing racism) was implemented in November 2009 as a Flat Classroom Project involving a global debate.  Watch the Flat Classroom Conference documentary.
